About Our Charity
Bipolar disorder affects approximately 5.7 million adult Americans, or about 2.6% of the U.S. population age 18 and older every year.
The mission of International Bipolar Foundation is to improve understanding and treatment of bipolar disorder through research; to promote care and support resources for individuals and caregivers; and to erase stigma through education. For an explanation of the disorder or for further information, please visit www.ibpf.org.
We run or walk to raise awareness for those who struggle with a mood disorder, and for their friends, family and loved ones. Bipolar disorder does not discriminate. It affects people from all backgrounds and walks of life, from our youth to adults. Rich or poor. Successful or not. But every affected person can live a full, productive and enjoyable life. It is up to us to spread awareness through activism, through sharing our stories and donating our time to help others.
We run or walk to speak for those whom feel silenced from stigma, to dispel myths and fear surrounding mental illness. We run or walk to raise money to provide services for families and communities in need, to help fund research so that we can better understand how to help each other. We invite you to join us in our fight against stigma on October 25th and participate in the Inaugural Stigma Busters 5K.
